East, Central and Southern African Health Community ANNOUNCEMENT ECSA to Hold 50th ECSA Health Ministers’ Conference in Kampala, Uganda, 15-19 February 2010 Please click links herebelow for more information on the Conference Theme: Improving Access to Quality Health Care to Achieve the Millennium Development Goals. The East, Central and Southern Africa Health Community (ECSA-HC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Republic of Uganda, will hold the 50th ECSA Health Minister’s Conference from 15-19 February 2010 in Kampala, Uganda. The conference, will bring together Ministers of Health from Member States of the ECSA Health Community, senior officials from Ministries of Health, experts, health researchers, heads of health training institutions, diverse Collaborating Partners in the region and beyond with an aim of identifying policy issues and recommendations in improving the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of health services. The 50th ECSA Health Ministers Conference comes at a critical juncture in the MDG target period 2015, and will provide stakeholders the opportunity to take stock of a number of critical areas that have contributed to, as well as impeded the much-needed acceleration and scaling-up in provision of health services in the region. Sub-themes Strengthening Health Systems to improve Quality, Equity, Efficiency and Effectiveness Implementing High Impact Interventions to Achieve the Millennium Development Goals Linking health research Evidence to Policy Tracking Progress towards the Millennium Development Goals. The conference will deliberate on diverse topics in the health sector during plenary sessions, satellite sessions, panel discussions, roundtable discussions and poster sessions. Senior experts, researchers, Programme managers, and policy makers will make presentations and engage participants in critical evaluation and reflection on interventions in the health sector within the context of the ECSA region’s commitment to MDG targets.
